I’m having my usual at the local brew on and watching Property Brothers on the TV. it pains me so much as an appraiser to watch these shows. Why the fuck are you dropping $100k in renovating a house you just bought instead of buying the home you wanted for what you spent plus renovations?! It makes no sense to me. At all.

We sort of did that. But we underpaid for the home knowing we are going to spend money on it. But this way we get the bathrooms, and kitchen and carpets we want. The house has the layout we liked the most out of anything we looked at for the past 5 years too. But short of that, it doesn’t make sense to buy to dump money into it.

Literally this. A young couple was living in a 600 sq ft home, she was a musician and he was a free lance journalist. Budget was $400,000.
